Honda Motor Europe are delighted to announce that they have aligned with the newly formed Team Honda 114 Motorsports in a partnership that will see riders Hunter Lawrence and Bas Vaessen compete on board the all-new 2018 Honda CRF250R. Under the guidance of two-time WMX world champion Livia Lancelot, the pair will begin their assault on MX2 world championship at the first round in Argentina at the beautiful track outside Villa La Angostura on March 4th.

After a productive off-season, hopes were buoyed even further when Lawrence won the team’s first competitive outing, at the opening round of the ‘Internazionali d’Italia’ series in Riola Sardo, with Vaessen also placing well after his long-layoff from racing.

The team are now set to compete at Lacapelle Marival in France this weekend, with the Team Honda 114 Motorsports awning likely to be filled with fans as they try to get a glimpse of the new Honda CRF250Rs as well as support the hugely popular Lancelot with her new venture, in what should be a great send-off before the long trip down to Patagonia.

Honda Europe Off-Road Manager

As manager of Honda racing activity in the MX2 World Championship, I look forward to the championship with great confidence that Honda will return to the podium on many occasions throughout the 2018 season. I believe that Team Honda 114 Motorsports have all the necessary potential in place to demonstrate what the all new Honda CRF250R is capable of. Livia knows how to win a World Title and Bas and Hunter know how to win races, so I think we can expect to have some very exciting moments during the 2018 season. I’m really happy that we have such high profile members of the entire team representing Honda, with such a collection of combined knowledge, experience, intelligence, youthful enthusiasm and the Power of Dreams, I think we are in a fantastic position to compete for glory in such a prestigious challenging class. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of Honda’s rivals the very best of luck.

The decision to stop my riding career wasn’t an easy one but after six months, I’m now really happy with my choice. We started Team Honda 114 Motorsports from zero, but Honda has trusted me completely with this new project and I really believe we have what we need to be fighting for wins in the MX2 championship. I’m excited to see how Hunter and Bas get on this season on the new Honda CRF250R and I really hope I get to stand alongside them on the podium at some stage, as that would make me the happiest and proudest team manager in the paddock.

It’s a pleasure to give my personal support to such a nice project like Team Honda 114 Motorsports. Livia
(Lancelot) has a wealth of knowledge and championship-winning experience from her time as a rider and she’s proving very talented and smart on the managing side of things. Hunter Lawrence and Bas
Vaessen are two extremely talented young riders and the Honda CRF250R is the perfect weapon for
them to show their skills in the MX2 world championship.

Everything has gone really well this pre-season. I love this small but super-efficient team around me; Livia is doing awesome, I get on great with my mechanic Reese and the new 2018 Honda CRF250R is really good also. I’m feeling the best that I ever have and I’m just generally happy with everything; mentally and physically. I’m loving life at the moment and I’m really looking forward to going racing and for the season to kick-off so I can chase after that dream of being world champion.

I just can’t wait to get the season started. It’s been a really time since I raced a GP, after my injuries last year, so I can’t wait to get going again in Argentina. I’m really happy with the Honda CRF250R and I’m really happy with the new team. The transition has been smooth and everyone is excited to go racing. I think I can have a good season this year and keep up my progression from year’s past.
