Taking to the smooth Patagonia soil for the first time in their racing careers, Michele Cervellin and Chihiro Notsuka found the qualifying race in Argentina a little more challenging then they had wished for.
Cervellin made work for himself early in the race when he lost the front end. After getting a good start and settling comfortably into the top six, the crash in the second lap then meant the feisty Italian found himself fighting back through the pack, in a bid to give himself a tenth-place finish in qualifying.
Notsuka had a strong start and showed early promise of a top 20 qualifying finish. He got into a good rhythm but found the pace tougher towards the end. It was still enough to secure himself a finish just outside the top 20.
Both riders will be looking ahead for a better result overall tomorrow. The first MX2 race starts at 12:15 local time on Sunday 19th March.
