F.C.C. TSR Honda France fought to a heroic win at the fourth round of the 2018/2019 FIM Endurance World Championship, the 8 Hours of Oschersleben today, aboard the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2 after eight hours on-track and completing 308 laps. Freddy Foray, Mike di Meglio and Josh Hook rode a faultless race, combined with the team doing a brilliant job in the pits, which saw them victorious with a gap of one lap.

It was a thrilling race at the German venue with a first safety car period in the opening minutes of the eight-hour race. Throughout the race F.C.C. TSR Honda France managed to stay out of all troubles on-track and made no mistakes at all. At the end it proved to be a more than successful race with the team not only taking the race win, but Hook and the Fireblade also secured the best lap time of the race.

There was misfortune for the #111 Honda Endurance Racing team with Randy de Puniet, S├ębastien Gimbert and Yonny Hernandez. The squad were fighting for a podium position with Hernandez on-track, but he crashed out after hitting oil on the circuit left by a rival EWC machine.

Luckily Hernandez was unhurt and up on his feet directly after the fall and brought the damaged Fireblade back to the pits. The super-slick Honda crew did an outstanding job to re-build the bike and were able to send de Puniet back out on track in less than ten minutes of repair time. The safety car was still circulating at that point, but de Puniet came back after one lap and left the team finding out the frame had broken, which caused a heartbreaking early retirement.

F.C.C. TSR Honda France move up to third in the overall championship standings with 109 points, just 23 shy behind the leaders SRC Kawasaki France. Honda Endurance Racing holds on to sixth with 79 points.

The finale of the 2018/2019 FIM Endurance World Championship takes place next month at the legendary Suzuka 8 Hours on 28 July.
