F.C.C. TSR Honda France took second on the grid for the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring; the third round of the 2018/2019 FIM Endurance World Championship to be held this Saturday (11 May). Freddy Foray, Josh Hook, and Mike di Meglio got over the wet and tricky conditions to place their Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in second. The Honda Endurance Racing team with Randy de Puniet, Sébastien Gimbert and Yonny Hernandez will start the race in fourth position.
With tricky conditions at the Slovakian circuit today only the first five to ten minutes of the morning’s Free Practice session could be held in dry conditions. The rain stopped shortly before the second Qualifying in the afternoon, giving the track the chance to dry in the racing line for the last riders out in the session.
It was F.C.C. TSR Honda France that took the risk with di Meglio in the final stages of the day, sending the Frenchman out on a full slick set of tyres. Di Meglio posted the best time in Qualifying (2:07.823), handing the team four world championship points for the qualifying.
Honda Endurance Racing had topped the sessions in Q1 with a full wet set-up, but suffered a bit on the drying track. De Puniet was the first to head out on an intermediate rear with Hernandez running out of time to switch to slicks. Still it was enough for P4 on the grid and with it a further two points towards the championship.
The 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring race is set to start on Saturday (11 May) at 12:00 local time (BST +1), with the chequered flag to be waved at 20:00 the very same day.
