What should have been a training race turned into a race full of satisfaction for the Honda RedMoto World Enduro Team.
The first race of the European Championship was run on 17th and 18th April in the centre of Italy at Castel Di Tora in Lazio, situated in the province of Rieti. On the Saturday, the team was on the first two steps of the podium with Thomas Oldrati and Theo Espinasse, with Roni Kytonen fourth, just a whisker away from third position.
It was a Sunday to remember with Oldrati again taking the victory, Espinasse second and Kytonen completing the podium.
It was a solid test for Oldrati, Espinasse and Kytonen, whose aim was to prepare for the next meeting on 24th and 25th in Piediluco (TR) for the third seasonal round of Italian Enduro Championship.
The excellent teamwork of the technicians guided by Matteo Boffelli, was to fulfil the best set up of the bikes and confirm a further step forward in the performances of Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro of Oldrati and his two CRF 250RX Enduro bikes of Espinasse and Kytonen, in view of the next national meetings in May and the beginning of the Enduro World Championship in mid-June.

After his success at the end of March in Sicily at the Enduro Championship, Oldrati confirmed the improvement of his physical condition after a recent thumb injury which required surgery. The supremacy of Oldrati and his Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro was confirmed on Saturday by the best time obtained in eight special races and one second position, and on Sunday he won two races by ending the remaining four, twice in second position, with one third and one fifth.
It was a big race for Theo Espinasse who was really quick too; on Saturday he won a special, was second seven times and had one fourth. On Sunday he was the quickest four times, with one second and one third.
