In the EnduroGP of Portugal, Giacomo Redondi confirmed his superiority with the Honda-RedMoto 450R Enduro this weekend with another pair of wins in the EJ class.

Held in Gouveia, the race was characterised by the weather, with heavy rain that made the 55km route even more challenging. On Saturday the organisers stopped the race at laps two (of three), while on Sunday the route was reduced by 15km because of dangerous passages with too much mud and the high water level of the streams making them treacherous to cross.

From the Moroccan sun, to the rain of Portugal. Giacomo Redondi has had a remarkable run with the Honda Redmoto World Enduro Team, winning two days and ten special tests of sixteen.

In the E1 class it was a hard race for Alessandro Battig, who struggled with the mud. In E2, on Saturday Davide Guarneri was forced to the withdraw because of the painful contusion suffered after a fall, while on Sunday he finished eighth, improving the pace in the last part of the race. In the EJ class, David Soreca scored a tenth and an eighth position, missing out on the top five after a couple of falls.

The next race for the Honda RedMoto World Enduro Team is the third round of the Italian Enduro Championship, scheduled on May 8th in Pievebogliana (MC).

“The race started well, with a great supertest on Friday evening. On Saturday I felt twice in the first part of the race, but then I tried to recover in the last extreme test racing with safe routes. I made a good choice, while my main adversary, Garcia, risked more and finally I got the better on him. Today I started with the right grim and I still got good times, even if I started from the rear”.

“Sunday was a tough day, but it was a bit 'better than Saturday, when I was force to the withdraw because of a fall. I defended myself in the line and cross tests, about three/four seconds from the best time. The ground changed a lot each lap and I always started from the rear. The extreme test was tough too, but I did not make mistakes”.

“Yesterday I was seventh, but I threw away two positions because of some falls in the last special test. I’m sorry, because I started the last lap seventh. Even today I’m not happy, because I could not race as I wanted and I finished eleventh. It was definitely a bad day”.

“It has been two difficult days, in which I always struggled and I was slow, although in some special tests I got good times. I’m consoling with the second time got in the last extreme test on Sunday. Next time I hope to keep the good pace I found in the last part of the day”.

“Redondi confirmed his potential. In E1 class Battig made some mistakes and he did not succeed in finding the right pace. But I’m sure he’ll do better next time. We should not forget that this was a really tough race, with mud, grooves and a hard extreme test with slippery stones. Guarneri shown he can grow fast, despite the tough race of Saturday. He is facing a new experience and a new class with strong riders, but I'm sure he will get experience. Soreca is followed by bad luck: after the banner in Morocco, in Portugal he has been slowed down by the fall of the chain in both the days. Without these inconvenience he surely finished fourth or fifth”.
