Rutter injured during shakedown test
Honda TT Legends’ new signing Michael Rutter has suffered a broken tibia during a pre-season shakedown at Mireval circuit in France. The team had stopped off at the Dunlop-owned testing track en route to the tyre manufacturer’s official test at Albacete in Spain next week.
Rutter crashed on the second day on track (Sunday 3 March) and following an x-ray has been diagnosed with a break at the base of the tibia. He has returned to the UK for further treatment while the rest of the team continue on to Spain as planned. John McGuinness, Simon Andrews and Michael Dunlop – who will ride his Honda TT Legends road racing machine for the first time – will all take part in the three-day test on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
It didn’t feel too bad at first and I was walking around after the crash but we thought it was best to get an x-ray done just to be sure. That revealed a crack at the base of my tibia near the ankle joint. I was given crutches and a temporary cast so I can get back to the UK and get it sorted out. Hopefully it won’t take too long to heal and I’ll be back on the bike as soon as possible.
