The 1992 debut of the history-making CBR900RR Fireblade completely rewrote the design book of supersport motorcycle with a remarkably compact and lightweight configuration. With its compact proportions and unprecedented power-to-weight ratio, the Fireblade embodied the origin of the modern supersport motorcycle.

Changes to Superbike racing rules for the 2004 season spurred a desire to expand the Fireblade’s racing capabilities to the world stage, and a new goal was set for its continuing development: to create a new base machine for litre-class racing that could be used to successfully compete in the Superbike series.

That machine debuted as the CBR1000RR Fireblade and captured the championship crown in 2007 with James Toseland and the HANNspree Ten Kate Honda team.

The Blade was relaunched the following season, packed with the latest race-tested technologies developed and tempered in the heat of World Superbike competition. With a bloodline of race-based riding excellence reaching back to the first Fireblade, Honda’s RC30 and beyond, the 2008 CBR1000RR Fireblade aggressively competed in the battle for honours in the Superbike category. Honda’s philosophy of evolution not revolution continues into 2010, as Honda’s skilled engineers continue the race development of this remarkable machine.
