What a weekend! Just on the flight now to South Africa and it’s a long way to go after the two DNF’s in Monza. My weekend was going really good up until the races. Our bike is working real well and race pace was not a problem so I guess while we scored zero points in Monza we can roll out in Kyalami expecting results.

Monza was always going to be tough and although Biaggi plays down the speed of his bike he clearly had an advantage there. I honestly do feel that I had a fight ready for him but made a little mistake in the last corner in race one. I suffered from a bad start, which made life difficult in the beginning, but I calmly worked my way through. When I passed Crutchlow for 3rd I got sucked into Biaggi’s slipstream and carried a little too much speed into the corner and lost the front.

In race two I got a better start but going into turn one JT and Haga came together and scuttled me from behind. Simple as that really, and that ended our weekend. I managed to come out of the crash without any injuries but waking up this morning took a bit longer but it’s nothing a good bath won’t sort out

It would be really easy to get all down and feeling sorry for ourselves but I’m playing a different tune. I’m super pumped for the next race and rest of the season. It’s 71 points to the lead of the championship and I am still sitting 3rd. While we are not in the best position with that gap, but we are motivated and I’m fired up for the challenge.

My team gave me a great bike again this weekend and the atmosphere in the box is good. I scored my first podium of my SBK career in SA so I intend to close up the point’s gap and get back to winning ways.

I would like to thank everyone for their messages of support over the weekend and it’s great to hear from you. It really fires me up to know that I have so much support from all you guys.

I’m staying with my friend Brad for a few days before the race so hopefully get to see around the area before the weekend. I’ll get the video camera out and capture some footage while out and about!

Cross you fingers for me this weekend.
