Jimmy Albertson
Jimmy Albertson set the MXGP paddock buzzing on his European debut at the Mantova Starcross in February. In the very first event, the One-on-One – where two riders race each other for a single lap – Albertson won through all the rounds and sensationally took the final ahead of reigning world champion Toni Cairoli. In his first event he’d beaten most of MXGP’s top riders. However, these were one lap sprints and the 22 year old would later find that over a longer duration the MXGP paddock are indeed tough competitors.
American Albertson, from Missouri, comes to Europe from his best season in the AMA since turning pro, finishing 10th in the AMA 450 motocross championship. With many regional championships and the American-based world four-stroke championship to his name, Albertson is a developing talent, clearly with the capability to surprise!
